Dear Foothills Family,

 

Well, here we are in week nine of provincially-prescribed social distancing! I thought it might be time for a pastoral conversation around various issues and opportunities facing the church. Let me begin by saying how incredibly proud I am of our leadership community and the way they creatively and faithfully serve us all.

 

Our Board has been meeting twice a month to seek God's leading through this pandemic. I can't begin to express how deeply grateful I am for their faith, wisdom, courage and concern for our church. We are truly blessed!

This week, Alberta Health added further health measures to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. One of these new restrictions included singing in public groups of fewer than 15 people.

 

Part of our weekend worship experience includes music with a band and singers. While this is a new challenge to navigate, we are confident in our ability to create authentic forms of worship in our services.

 

Earlier in March, we filmed worship songs and set them aside for a future date. That way, we would still have music if we were unable to gather and record songs in the church. …

Dear Foothills Family,

 

A few weeks ago, our teaching series in church was called “Desperate Measures.” We had no idea what was coming - a deadly coronavirus that has sent us spiralling into social isolation, economic uncertainty and a deep concern for what the future will look like. Amidst all the uncertainty though, we follow and trust Jesus, who is the Lord of all creation. In him, we find peace and hope about what tomorrow will hold.
