Good & Bad
James - Practical Wisdom
May 4 • Andrew Berg
Some of the best gifts I have ever received I bought for myself. That’s just how my wife and I roll with presents. We know what we want so we’ll buy it and then give the other the credit. That works for my marriage. Doesn’t for Jesus. Every good and perfect thing I have ever experienced or been given comes from Him. I cannot self-produce a good thing and slap a “from God” sticker on it. Why? Because He's not only good but He’s what good is. When we get together at church, we’ll try to wrestle this out. Here’s how: we’re going to talk about the virtue humility as a pillar of the way of Jesus, we’re going to break down temptation (we’re going to wade into the messiness of it and get a good look at ourselves) and differentiate the words “trial” and “temptation”, so that: by God’s good grace, we’ll try to get a good look at God and see what this goodness is all about.
See you then.
