What Do You Want From Jesus

This is a very simple story, at the very end of a series of passages that teach us about the tremendous grace of God and what it means to be great in the kingdom of heaven. Jesus flips the script on what people’s understanding was of how one gains God’s favour and blessing. It’s not those who are rich and successful. It’s not those of high standing or those with power and position. It’s not even those who work hard or even keep all the commandments. It is the humble and the meek, the helpless children and the one who wanders. And in today’s passage, it’s the one who begs for mercy and asks for a miracle.
