Carl & Pat
Carl and Pat are members of Wycliffe Bible Translators and have worked with the Summer Institute of Linguistics in Papua New Guinea since 1974. With all five of their children living in Canada, they have adjusted back to life with just the two of them.
Since 1975, our primary assignment has been working among the Menya people, one of more than 800 languages in the country. In 2018, we completed the New Testament in that language. We have also been heavily involved in training Papua New Guinea nationals to do literacy and translation in their own languages. Our work among the Menya is now more in a support role, encouraging and training them to use the translated Scriptures so their lives will be transformed. We are also using our training and skills to train Papua New Guineans from other parts of the country to do translation and literacy work in their own languages, and helping fellow missionaries as consultants in grammar (Carl) and literacy (Pat).
