Seeing

It seems to me that shepherds don’t get much “press” in the Christmas narrative. It's interesting, because there is only one invitation given to come and see the Christ child and only one request to go and tell everybody what they found. And it is given to the shepherds. If you know anything about shepherds, they were probably thinking, “Of all the people God could single out for such an extreme blessing, why us?”
As Christmas is almost here, this is a fair question for us to ask as well: What does God see in me that would make him want to single me out for the special divine privilege of being first in line to be recognized, known and love by God?
