Surprise, Grief and the Cousin of Jesus

This week we focus in on one of the most peculiar and enigmatic figures in the Bible: John the Baptist. We see John’s reaction to Jesus—a Messiah wholly different than what John expected. This raised all kinds of questions for John about Jesus—are you the one I should expect? What does this mean for me? We all have moments where we experience a sense of surprise and disappointment with God.
