Persistent Faith

If you are following the 2020 Project and reading through the Bible with us, this past week, Mark 7 may have been one of those passages that jumped out at and made you wonder, "What Jesus was thinking?" It has been said that if you think you have God all figured out and want to stay that way, you might need to stop reading the Bible. While we can be certain of God's character, we are often surprised by the way he works with his people. This weekend we will examine an unusual encounter between Jesus and a Gentile woman and invite her gutsy example lead us to reach out to Jesus with persistent faith. We will discover that while at first glance, this encounter feels limiting, it is actually the opposite, pointing to the expansion of God's gracious blessing to all.
